New York State Police troopers stopped Cortlandt resident Akintunde Akinleye, 30, at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Lockwood Road in Cortlandt on the Fourth of July, when he allegedly committed a vehicle and traffic law violation.
During the stop, troopers said that Akinleye was found to be intoxicated, leading to his arrest. Further investigation into Akinleye and his 2015 BMW found that he was in possession of approximately 15 grams of cocaine and 40 grams of marijuana.
Akinleye was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated. Following arraignment, Akinleye was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or bond. Akinleye is due back in Cortlandt Justice Court on July 9 to answer the charges.
